Yet 52 was showing on the screen that it was the Pasco flight. Case in point: last week, on one of the DEN-COS flights, the original gate was 52.

I have for the most part found Skywest the best of the UAX carriers - and I've almost never encountered an employee at any level who did not seem to enjoy their work - but one of the annoying things is how they will switch gates at DEN with no notice and how they don't update the info. (There was one week a few months ago that for the entire week not a single Republic flight was on time) - and Republic has far fewer options on that route for aircraft substitution than does Skywest. If at all possible, I try to choose Skywest for those flights because Republic is abysmal at running an on-time operation. When flying DEN-COS, you mostly have the choice of Skywest or Republic. I expect (but have no actual knowledge) that a portion of their revenue comes from actually flying each flight and minimizing delays (carrier caused) so, in someways, they are more motivated to complete a flight and arrive on-time than UA. I don't think the smaller carriers are as sophisticated at managing IRROPS (downside) and sometimes have more options due due to the shorter stage lengths of their flights and frequent RT turns (upside). It would be great if the communication between the UX carriers and UA was better but I think it comes with the territory when flying on UX. If you want to see a rough operation check out ExpressJet or Mesa. You think flying skywest is bad? try flying gojet or trans states to stl, ua obviously does not care what their elite partners do as long as they complete the assigned leg whether it be 1hr or 3 hrs late.i'm fortunate to only have to go to stl 4x a yr to visit boeing, dl better not get those idiots flying between atl and stl as my only other option will be as bad as going thru iad and ord+1 - I'd say SkyWest (OO) is the best of the regionals out there. SkyWest is just another pass the buck regional placeholder and that's exactly what UA wants, someone to pass the buck to otherwise their metal would have to take the ground-holds into SFO. But I've heard the squawks on the two-ways in my many interminable delays at FAT going into SFO or LAX and when the ground guys are squawking the mtc issues then the GA comes on the PA and announces FAA ground hold or 'weather' I just know it's all a line of crap.

That said, operations should have been putting appropriate remarks into the FLIFO to notate the reason to notify those who are not directly working the flight.I think that's nice and all. You say that you were in the club, which would mean that that particular agent isn't at the departure gate, and thus would never get a phone call as to why an aircraft was swapped. In this specific instance, there was a lack of communication between United's airport operations team and the CSR team and SHARES.

Every aircraft swap, whether mainline or regional, involves some sort of communication (usually verbal) between a fleet manager and an airport operations agent that not only specifies the aircraft and flights involved, but why it had to happen. It's a communication problem between United and its passengers. The problem is not communication between SkyWest and United. This, with no communication and absolutely no transparency in making such swaps. Personally, I'm annoyed as hell that a late evening flight into DFW has become sort of a red eye, landing at 3AM or so. He said that Skywest operations are unreliable and a mess. Apparently, on mainline flights, there is a reason provided for aircraft swaps but Skywest does not provide any reason and makes these swaps without clear communication, inconveniencing passengers on multiple flights. The UA agent at the SFO Club was nonchalant about Skywest and said something to the effect of "Skywest does this all the time". Effectively, they went from one delayed flight to two. The original inbound from DEN became a delayed flight to LAX while the delayed fight from IAD became a delayed flight to SFO. The inbound was supposed to be coming in from DEN but they swapped with an inbound from IAD. If this was an isolated incident, I wouldn't care much about it, but the same thing happened to me before on a flight from DFW to SFO. As a result, my 7:07PM departure is now a 9:17PM departure, landing in DFW at almost 3AM. Next thing I know, there was an aircraft swap and the inbound is now coming in from DFW (UA6620) and doesn't land until 9PM. All day, according to the UA App, the inbound was coming in from Boise at 6:20PM or so. Are there any known operational issues with Skywest Airlines that makes them change flights an hour or two before flights, ending one delay but causing another delay? Case in point: I am on today's SFO - DFW flight (UA5586).
